At 8:59 AM on Monday June 12, 2023 a crash occurred on WIS 40 SB at .25 miles North of Hwy 8
in RUSK County near the city of Bruce.
Assisting agencies included Bruce Fire Department , Weyerhaeuser Fire Department , Rusk County
Sheriff’s Department , Rusk County Medical Examiner’s Office , Rusk County Ambulance Servies ,
Lakeview Ambulance Service , Life Link III Air Ambulance , and Mayo Air One Ambulance .
The crash involved 1 fatality and 1 injury.
A Rusk County Highway Department grader was operating southbound on Hwy 40. The grader was
operating with its flashing lights on doing shoulder work when a truck also traveling south on Hwy 40
rear-ended the grader. The female driver of the truck, identified as a 73 year old Bruce woman, was airlifted to a hospital in Eau Claire. The front-seat male passenger, identified as an 80 year old Bruce man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Highway Grader, a 55 year old Hawkins, Wisconsin man is reported not to have any injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
