Ruth Isadora (Maug) Engen, 98, died on Monday, January 27, 2025, at Silverstone Memory
Care in Grand Chute, WI with family at her side.
Ruth was born in Pleasantville, WI April 15, 1926, as one of seven children of Carl H. and Mollie
(Iverson) Maug.  Ruth married Omar M. Engen on October 18, 1947, in Strum, WI.  
Ruth was a graduate of Osseo High School. She was a lively woman with many interests. 
Alongside Omar, she helped with the farming chores.  Later, she spent many years cleaning the
Tri-County Telephone Offices and was employed as a seasonal worker at Huntsinger Farms in
Mondovi for several years.  She was active serving the church as a Sunday School teacher, in
choirs, and participated in the various activities of the Women of the Church. Ruth lovingly and
faithfully took care of Omar for 24 years following his stroke. 
Ruth truly enjoyed gardening of all kinds but is especially known for her beautiful flower
gardens. Ruth’s greatest love was for her family, encouraging, supporting and loving them and
welcoming them home with open arms and homemade baking at any time. 

Ruth is survived by Peggy (Ken) Schaub, Sun Prairie, WI; Pam (James) Nikolai, Marshfield, WI;
Kurt (Donna) Engen, Mondovi, WI; Karen (Art) Ostertag, Appleton, WI; and Tim Engen, Strum.
She loved her ten grandchildren, Ryu Schaub, Jonathan Schaub (Katie), Heidi (Johnathon)
Kerns, Stephen (Rosa) Nikolai, Ann Engen (Joe Strande), Kate (Austin) Brack, Amy Ostertag
Kloiber (Mike Spang), Aaron (Kristen) Ostertag, Kellie Ostertag, and Andrew Ostertag. She is
further blessed by 13 great grandchildren, Carson Kloiber and Nolan Spang; Ryan, Aiden and
Mackenzie Ostertag; JaeMin Schaub; Everett, Callahan and Rory Kerns; Georgiana and James
Nikolai; Emerson Brack, and Ellie Strande along with many nieces and nephews. She is also
survived by a sister-in-law, Nila Maug.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Omar, and brothers, John Maug,
Clarence Maug, Chester Maug, and sisters Lillian Myhre, Corrine Ottestad, and Harriet
Anderson. 

Funeral services for Ruth will be at 11 am, Monday, February 3, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran
Church in Strum with Rev. Terry Lorenz officiating.  Burial will be in Saint Paul Lutheran
Cemetery in Strum.  Friends may call from 9 am until the time of services at the church.

Schiefelbein funeral home is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
