Do you have unused or expired medications or sharps at home? Safely dispose of them during the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day event on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 9 a.m. to noon at Monroe County Health Department (315 West Oak St. in Sparta). Residents are encouraged to participate by dropping off unwanted medications or sharps anonymously and quickly, no questions asked. Please enter the parking lot off West Oak Street and follow the signs. Items accepted include:
Sharps, including needles, lancets, syringes, auto-injectors, and other sharps devices
Prescription medications
Over-the-counter medications
Ointments
Patches
Non-aerosol sprays
Vials
Pet medications
Liquid medications, creams, and sprays must be in their original packaging
