Sandra Jane Blackdeer, age 70, of Black River Falls, WI passed away at Gundersen Health
System LaCrosse, WI on Friday, September 27, 2024. Sandra was born to Harold Blackdeer Jr.
and Lyla Thomas on March 12, 1954 in Black River Falls, WI. She was later fostered and raised
by Red and Cathryn Gilbertson of Merrillan, WI. Sandra will be remembered for living life large
and being generous to a fault.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Al Neumann; daughter, Ali Neumann; siblings,
Julia Blackdeer, and John Blackdeer; and birth and foster parents.
Sandra is survived by her siblings, Mary (Ron) Anwash, Harold (Janet) Blackdeer, and Vera
Hodges; children, Jennifer Spencer, Cary Blackdeer, Rachel Walsh, Beth McDonald, Shanna
Blackdeer, and Patrick Hodges; grandchildren, Xavier, Christina, Aaron, Ryan, Marisol, and
Vanetta whom she grew very close with this past few years; along with many other nieces,
nephews, friends, and loved ones.
Funeral services for Sandra will take place Monday, September 30, 2024, at the Buswell
Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. to12:00 p.m. Clayton Winnishiek will officiate. A burial at Oakwood
Cemetery in Merrillan, WI, will follow. All are invited to a luncheon at the Mission Community
building for a meal afterward.
