BLACK RIVER FALLS – SBA Great Lakes Regional Administrator Geri Aglipay and other U. S. Small Business Administration officials will speak in Jackson County to empower local businesses to utilize the counties’ recent designation as an SBA-approved HUBZone (Historically Underutilized Business Zone). Businesses located in HUBZones that obtain a HUBZone certification gain advantages in competing for federal contracts. Both Jackson and Marinette counties were recently approved as HUBZones by the SBA at the request of Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, and training sessions are being held in both counties.
“With recent federal legislation such as the Inflation Reduction Act, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the CHIPs Act, and others bringing billions in contracting opportunities to rural businesses, this is the moment for entrepreneurs in these new HUBZones to get prepared to bid on and win upcoming contracts,” says Regional Administrator Aglipay. “With SBA staff and partners available to help businesses get their HUBZone certifications, business owners can build an income stream with federal contracts and ultimately build generational wealth for themselves and provide employment for others.
