In Jackson County Circuit Court on Wednesday July 9, 2025, Thomas U. English, 44, appeared for sentencing on a conviction for Possession with Intent to Deliver Narcotics (heroin), with a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm dismissed and read in. During a vehicle search, English was found to have over an ounce of heroin, almost 3 grams of marijuana, and a loaded pistol in a bag. Despite the District Attorney’s emphasis on the seriousness of the offenses and her request for a longer sentence, Judge Daniel Diehn ordered a total prison term of four years, consisting of 2 years initial confinement and two years of extended supervision. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office conducted the search, arrest, and investigation.
