Black River Falls firefighters quickly contained a shed fire Thursday evening in the City of Black River Falls.
At 5:24 p.m., Black River Falls Fire and EMS and Hixton Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the 300 block of 13th Street for a reported structure fire.
Dispatch advised responding crews that a large garden shed was fully engulfed in flames and located about 20 feet from a nearby home. Heat from the fire had already begun melting the home’s siding.
Fire crews arrived and quickly brought the blaze under control, extinguishing the shed fire and cooling the exterior of the residence to prevent further damage. Firefighters also checked the home for smoke and found none inside. Additional responding resources were canceled.
The garden shed was declared a total loss. The nearby residence sustained damage to its siding and windows due to the intense heat.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Assisting at the scene were the Black River Falls Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, and Jackson County Dispatch. All units cleared the scene at 6:26 p.m.
