(Menominee, MI) — The shelter in place order for folks near the UP from a paper mill fire in Michigan has been allowed to expire. Firefighters in Menominee, Michigan told people to stay at home and stay inside during the worst of the first at the mill over the weekend. The fire started Thursday night and grew over the weekend. It burned a warehouse and the pulp mill at Resolute Forest Products’ facility on the Menominee River, which is right across the river from Marinette, Wisconsin. There are no reports of serious injuries. It’s not clear how the fire started.
