Leah Kay Mickelson, 25 years of age, from Eau Claire has been arrested by the Wisconsin State
Patrol Eau Claire Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 3rd offense, with two
children in the vehicle under the age of 16.
A Trooper with the Wisconsin State Patrol stopped a vehicle for speeding, traveling 93 m.p.h. in a
70 m.p.h. zone on I-94 at mile post 41, near Menomonie. The Trooper observed that the driver,
Leah Mickelson, showed signs of impairment. A subsequent investigation, including standardized
field sobriety testing, showed that Ms. Mickelson was operating a motor vehicle while under the
influence of an intoxicant. She was subsequently arrested and charged with operating a vehicle
under the influence of an intoxicant – 3rd offense while having passengers under 16 years old. The
two minor passengers were turned over to the care of a responsible adult. Ms. Mickelson was
transported to a local hospital for an evidentiary chemical test of her blood and then turned over to
the Dunn Co. Jail. Ms. Mickelson was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of an
intoxicant – 3rd offense while having passengers under 16 years old and operating a vehicle with a
revoked drivers license.
