A Spooner man is facing his sixth OWI charge following a traffic stop Saturday morning in Washburn County.
The Wisconsin State Patrol says a trooper assisted the Spooner Police Department with a traffic stop on Pine Street around 9 a.m. Saturday. The vehicle had been stopped because of an expired registration.
During the stop, the trooper observed signs of impairment. Sixty-one-year-old Erik Marshall Hanson of Spooner was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, sixth offense.
A warrant was obtained for a blood test. Hanson was taken to Indianhead Medical Center in Shell Lake for the blood draw and was then transported to the Washburn County Jail.
The charge is an accusation, and Hanson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
