A historic rural church, between Black River Falls and Melrose, will open its doors for a special Spring Mass Memorial Day weekend. St. Malachy’s Catholic Church, originally built in the 1870s – closing in 1980, will hold Mass on Sunday afternoon, May 25th, at 1:30. The event is open to the public and will begin with a Memorial Service at 1:15, honoring veterans buried in the church cemetery — including those who served from the Civil War through Vietnam. On Saturday, May 24, visitors are invited to a special educational session from 10:00 to noon to learn how to properly clean headstones and view photos of recent restoration efforts. For more information, contact Mary Murray Woods at 608-488-5981 or the Guardian Angels’ Parish Office. St. Malachy’s Catholic Church is located on Church Road, just off of County Highway X.
