Wisconsin’s premier high school wrestling showcase returns to Madison Thursday as the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association state individual wrestling championships get underway February 26th through the 28th at the Kohl Center on the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus.
Girls and boys will share the spotlight, with the girls championship now in its fifth year and the boys tournament continuing its long-standing tradition across three divisions. For the second straight year, a girls team champion will also be crowned based on individual performances.
The tournament is officially sold out for all sessions, with the WIAA citing overwhelming fan demand. Officials say no additional tickets are expected to be released, and fans without tickets are encouraged to watch online.
The Kohl Center — one of the state’s largest indoor venues — provides a championship backdrop for the event.
WIAA Executive Director Stephanie Hauser says the sold-out arena reflects the value Wisconsin places on wrestling and high school athletics, adding that the weekend is about celebrating the discipline and resilience of the state’s student-athletes.
Championship finals in all divisions will air live beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday on the WIAA State Television Network. Earlier matches will stream on WIAA.tv through the NFHS Network.
