The Tomah Health Community Foundation is helping to keep the city of Tomah safe.

Foundation members presented a one-thousand dollar check to Tomah Police Sergeant and K-nine Handler Adam Perkins to support the department’s K-nine program and K-nine Viktor.

Born in the Czech Republic, Viktor has been with the Tomah Police Department seven years and according to Perkins has been a vital part of the department.

Perkins said the foundation’s donation is important since the program operates on donations. It’s the second consecutive year the foundation has supported the K-nine program.

Perkins said plans are underway to replace Viktor next year with a new dog when he retires from the police department and becomes a household pet for Perkins and his family.
