Yesterday, at approximately 7:15am, the Trempealeau County Dispatch Center received numerous 911 calls reporting a two vehicle crash involving a school bus. Preliminary investigations indicate a school bus carrying a14 children and the adult driver was traveling north on US Highway 53 near the intersection of Nelson Road in the Town of Sumner.

The bus began to slow to make a left hand turn on to Nelson road.

A 2013 Nissan Rogue with two adult passengers was also traveling north and struck the bus in a rear end fashion, causing the collision.

Five of the children on the bus were treated for minor injuries. Both adults in the Nissan were transported by ambulance and helicopter for serious, but non life threatening injuries. Deputies are investigating possible impairment and reckless driving for the Driver of the Nissan. He has been identified as 28 year old Ryan Strittmater of La Crosse. The passenger has been identified as 24 year old Jada Trussoni, also of La Crosse.
