The U.S. Department of Agriculture is investing more than one million dollars in 11 rural business development projects across Wisconsin. The grants total just over one million, 24-thousand dollars and are intended to support small businesses, create jobs and strengthen local economies.

Projects include business training and mentoring, entrepreneurship programs, small-business financing and assistance with business succession planning.

Among the recipients, the Forest County Potawatomi Community will receive 230-thousand dollars for its Indigenous Entrepreneurship Training Program. Waupaca County Economic Development Corporation will receive 200-thousand dollars to establish a revolving loan fund for small businesses.

Other grants will support entrepreneurs with disabilities, businesses in northern and west-central Wisconsin, and economic development efforts in several rural communities.

The USDA says the Rural Business Development Grant Program helps rural organizations expand economic opportunities and support job creation across Wisconsin.
