The U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development is providing grant funding to help low-income homeowners in rural Wisconsin make critical repairs and safety upgrades to their homes.

Wisconsin State Director Andrew Iverson announced the agency is awarding Housing Preservation Grants to Greater Fox Cities Habitat for Humanity and Wild Rivers Habitat for Humanity.

Greater Fox Cities Habitat for Humanity will receive about $110,600 to help 14 very low-income homeowners in Calumet, Outagamie, and Waupaca counties.

Wild Rivers Habitat for Humanity will receive $110,000 to assist 25 low- and very low-income homeowners across eight counties: Ashland, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Polk, Price, Rusk, and Washburn.

The grants can be used for essential health and safety improvements such as roof repairs, insulation, replacement of deteriorated siding or porches, updates to plumbing or electrical systems, and accessibility modifications for residents with disabilities.

USDA officials say the funding is part of the agency’s broader effort to support safe, affordable housing and strengthen rural communities across Wisconsin.
