More than 85 military personnel and civilian defense partners from around the world recently took part in the Advanced Crash Damaged and Disabled Aircraft Recovery Course at Volk Field Combat Readiness Training Center near Camp Douglas.
The week-long training brought together participants from the U.S. military, along with representatives from seven allied nations, including Canada, Germany, Norway, Poland, Singapore, and the United Kingdom. Students practiced recovering damaged aircraft using specialized equipment and techniques designed for real-world crash scenarios.
The course also featured support from Wisconsin Army National Guard drone teams, U.S. Marines flying CH-53K King Stallion helicopters, and Iowa Army National Guard Chinook crews. Officials say the training strengthens international partnerships and prepares recovery teams to safely respond to aircraft incidents around the world.
Volk Field has hosted the specialized training for more than a decade and has trained nearly 1,000 military members since 2019.
