Seventeen men at Waupun Correctional Institution were honored this week for earning their high school equivalency diplomas or GEDs. It was the prison’s first in-person graduation since December 2024. Wisconsin Corrections Secretary Jared Hoy told graduates their hard work will pay off as they prepare to return to their communities. Ten of the men are scheduled for release before 2030. In addition to the diplomas, two graduates received college certificates from Moraine Park Technical College, and four others were recognized for honor society achievements. Family members joined the celebration, which concluded with graduates proudly receiving their diplomas and celebrating with loved ones.
