The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) announced the awarding of $550,000 in grants to 15 nonprofit organizations that assist veterans and their families. WDVA Secretary-designee James Bond highlighted the importance of these grants in providing essential services, including mental healthcare, job training, and support for veteran entrepreneurs.
The funds are divided into two programs: the Veteran Nonprofit Grant and the Veteran Entrepreneurship Grant.
Key Nonprofit Grant Recipients:
Community Outreach Temporary Services: $19,735 for veteran homelessness prevention.
Fox Valley Veterans Council: $25,000 for emergency assistance to veterans and families.
Heroes for Healthcare: $25,000 to facilitate transitions from military to civilian healthcare.
Trinity Equestrian Center: $25,000 for equine therapy aimed at veterans’ mental health.
Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin: $25,000 for services to homeless and at-risk veterans.
Key Entrepreneurship Grant Recipients:
Ashland Area Development Corp: $27,105 for veteran entrepreneur training.
Fox Valley Technical College Foundation: $99,895 for an Innovation Accelerator program.
Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation: $100,000 to support veteran entrepreneurs through guided planning and resources.
These grants aim to improve the quality of life for Wisconsin veterans and bolster their economic opportunities.
