With summer travel season heating up, TOPS Club, Inc. (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is reminding travelers that a break from routine doesn’t have to mean a break from healthy habits. The nonprofit weight-loss support group encourages vacationers to focus on maintaining their weight rather than losing it while away.

Here are some top travel tips from TOPS to help keep you on track:

Choose wisely at restaurants: Skip the bread basket, opt for fruits, veggies, and grilled fish, and go light on alcohol.

Practice moderation: Eat in for at least one meal a day, like breakfast, and consider splitting entrées or desserts when dining out.

Keep moving: Walk, swim, or explore the city by bike — staying active doesn’t have to feel like exercise.

TOPS has been promoting real people, real weight loss since 1948, with chapters across the U.S. and Canada. First meetings are free to attend, and membership starts at just $70 a year.
