Western Technical College has joined the nationwide Green Bandana Project, a mental health awareness initiative that empowers students to support one another and reduce stigma around mental health challenges.

Students who participate receive suicide prevention training and carry resource cards, along with a green bandana on their backpack to show they’re a safe person to talk to.

At Western, the program builds on existing wellness efforts through counseling services and partnerships with local providers.

Ryan Monroe, manager of Health, Wellness, and Recreation, says the project encourages open conversations about mental health and helps create a more compassionate, connected campus community.
