LA CROSSE, Wis. – Western Technical College announced today the suspension of its men’s and women’s basketball programs beginning next year.

The decision comes after careful consideration and evolution of programing needs and priorities of students. The move involved multiple factors, including financial considerations, travel times, and participation rates.

“While sports play a vital role in college life, we must ensure that our offerings resonate with the diverse interests and pursuits of our students,” said Ryan Monroe, Athletic Manager at Western. “The college hopes to supplement varsity sports with a wider range of opportunities that align with the evolving needs and interests of our students. We hope to share more in the months to come.”

The men’s and women’s basketball teams will finish the remainder of this season with the Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC). To learn more information on Western’s athletic programs, visit www.westerncavaliers.com.
