Wisconsin will take center stage this Independence Day as Milwaukee’s Summerfest becomes an official anchor site for America’s Block Party, celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary. The Wisconsin America250 Commission says the event will showcase the state’s role in American history through music, community, and storytelling. Highlights include a food drive benefiting Hunger Task Force, with free admission for the first 5,000 people who donate three nonperishable food items, BMX stunt shows, an America250 story-recording station, and a lakefront fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. Organizers are also promoting the national “Giving 4th” campaign, encouraging charitable giving as part of Independence Day celebrations.
