Wisconsin will begin issuing its first Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, or APRN, licenses on September first under a new state law signed by Governor Tony Evers. The new credential replaces the current APNP license and identifies nurses by their certified role, including nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, clinical nurse specialists and nurse anesthetists. State officials say the change modernizes Wisconsin’s nursing laws and expands access to healthcare. Applications open August third, and current APNP licenses will automatically convert September first.
