(Madison, WI) — A lot fewer people in Wisconsin are smoking cigarettes. The Wisconsin Policy Forum said in a report this week that sales of cigarettes have fallen from 420 million-packs 2001 to 193 million-packs in 2022. The Policy Forum says Wisconsin’s smoking ban and higher cigarette taxes played a role in the drop. But the report says some people switched from cigarettes to vaping.
