The Wisconsin Department of Health Services is warning partners about a phishing scam involving emails impersonating DHS employees.

The fraudulent emails include links asking recipients to review or submit bid proposals. But the links lead to fake Microsoft login pages designed to steal passwords and personal information.

DHS says it will never ask anyone to click an email link to enter personal information.

Anyone who receives one of these messages should delete it immediately. Those who clicked a link should contact their information technology team right away.

DHS also reminds Wisconsinites to be cautious of unexpected emails, suspicious links and urgent requests for personal information.

Officials recommend verifying questionable messages through another method rather than replying to the sender.

Suspicious messages and scams can also be reported to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.

The consumer protection hotline is 800-422-7128.
