The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is encouraging residents to hit the trails and celebrate National Trails Day on June 6. Wisconsin offers thousands of miles of public trails for hiking, biking, snowshoeing and more. To mark the occasion, the DNR is hosting special events highlighting new trail projects, including a ribbon-cutting June 6 at the Afterhours Trail System in Brule River State Forest, where nearly nine miles of new multi-use trails will officially open. The DNR also reminds visitors that state trail passes are required for certain activities and help fund trail maintenance across Wisconsin.
