The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is now accepting applications for its 2026 class of conservation wardens through May 6. About 10 full-time positions are expected to be filled, with training beginning in January or April 2026, based on experience.

Conservation wardens work across the state, enforcing environmental and wildlife laws and educating the public about outdoor safety and conservation. The DNR encourages candidates from all backgrounds—no prior hunting, fishing, or law enforcement experience is necessary, as comprehensive training is provided.

Applicants should have strong communication and problem-solving skills, a passion for protecting natural resources, and the ability to work independently.

To learn more, attend one of the DNR’s virtual “office hours” listed on their website, or watch a short video on their YouTube channel. For direct inquiries, contact recruiting officer Mary Bisch at Mary.Bisch@wisconsin.gov or 920-500-0332.
