The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development is encouraging training providers to apply for grants to help address the state’s shortage of commercial truck drivers.
Applications are due by 3 p.m. Wednesday, December 9th, 2026.
The grants range from 10-thousand to 30-thousand dollars and help reimburse training costs for Wisconsin residents seeking a Commercial Driver’s License, or C-D-L.
According to the state, more than 500 job openings for heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers are listed on Job Center of Wisconsin.
The program aims to increase the number of qualified drivers, connect trainees with family-sustaining wages, and meet employers’ workforce needs.
Eligible applicants must have a Wisconsin training facility, serve Wisconsin residents, and meet federal commercial driver training requirements.
The program is administered by the Department of Workforce Development’s Office of Skills Development. More information is available through the Wisconsin Fast Forward program.
