The Wisconsin School District Boundary Appeal Board has voted unanimously, 7-0, to dissolve the Hustisford School District and transfer all of its territory to the Dodgeland School District.
The decision follows public hearings and community input, and marks Wisconsin’s first school district dissolution since 1990, when the Ondossagon School District closed.
State Superintendent Jill Underly says the decision reflects the growing financial challenges facing Wisconsin school districts, citing an outdated state school funding formula that has failed to keep up with education costs.
Underly thanked the Hustisford School Board, Superintendent Todd Bugnacki, and appeal board members for their leadership and work throughout the process.
The seven-member appeal board is responsible for decisions involving school district boundaries, annexations, and dissolutions.
The move marks a significant change for students, families, and communities in the Hustisford area.
