Childcare affordability is a major concern for Wisconsin voters heading to the polls next month. A new poll from The 19th and YouGov found more than half of Americans believe the federal government should spend more on childcare, including 60 percent of Gen Z voters.

Childcare is also a key issue in Wisconsin’s governor’s race, with both candidates saying the system needs more support, but proposing different approaches. Advocates say the challenge goes beyond helping parents afford care—it also involves staffing shortages, childcare deserts and maintaining a stable workforce for businesses.
