On February 12, 2023 the Wood County Sheriff’s Department responded to The Food Tree convenience store located at 1759 Greenfield Avenue in the Township of Rudolph, Wood County for an armed robbery that took place. At this time the Wood County Sheriff’s Department is asking the public for assistance in locating a Eugene (AKA “Gene”) K. Schmidt (Age 58) in connection to the armed robbery. Eugene maybe armed and should be considered dangerous at this time. Eugene was last known to be in the Marathon County area. If you know the whereabouts of Eugene please contact your local law enforcement immediately and do not approach or try to make contact with him.
Schmidt is 58 years old. he stands 6 foot one inch tall and weighs 165. He has brown hair and blue eyes.
In a scathing ending to the Wood County Sheriff’s Department Official News Release, the Sheriff Shawn Becker added this, “Eugene, we know you will read this because you are scared and hiding from law enforcement. Please turn yourself in to local law enforcement and be an adult by facing your consequences for the dangerous actions you took. By not turning yourself in, it is likely you will face more criminal charges.”
