The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development has released the latest unemployment figures for August.
Statewide, the non-seasonally adjusted data shows mixed results.
Among metro areas, unemployment fell in Fond du Lac and Oshkosh-Neenah, rose in two areas, and held steady in the rest. Compared to a year ago, only one metro saw improvement, while 12 saw higher jobless rates.
For Wisconsin’s 35 largest cities, seven saw unemployment dip over the month, while 15 saw increases. Over the year, just one city posted a decline, with most others reporting higher rates.
And at the county level, 26 counties reported lower unemployment in August, 24 saw increases, and 22 were unchanged. Year-over-year, only four counties improved, while 63 reported higher unemployment.
