On Tuesday, just after noon, the LaCrosse County Sheriff’s Office was informed that a body may have been found in the Mississippi River, just a half mile south of the City of La Crosse.
They responded and confirmed a body had indeed been found. They recovered the body and released as much information as they could.
The La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office confirms that the body is a male and the remains have been in the river for some time. They reported that most of the clothing had been disintegrated and that the condition of the body indicates that it may have passed through the lock and dam.
Assisting the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office was the La Crosse Police Department, La Crosse County Dive Rescue and the La Crosse County Medical Examiner.
