On January 9 a white male suspect opened checking accounts at Dairy State Bank and Citizen’s Bank in Menomonie. The suspect used a fake, Georgia driver’s license with the name John Southwood d.o.b. 5/18/88 to open the accounts and told the bank tellers he was a truck driver. On On January 10, between approximately 0852 hours and 1010 hours, the suspect cashed fake checks at Citizens State Bank branches located in Hudson, Roberts, Woodville, and Elmwood totaling over $11k. The suspect also cashed two other fake checks at Dairy State banks located in Menomonie and Downsville totaling over $4k. The suspect arrived to each location on foot, so no vehicle information is available at this time. The suspect does not appear to be local.
