A phone call from a concerned out of state caller came in to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office about 10:30pm Wednesday night. The caller stated a local resident was having a mental health emergency. Sheriff Torgerson says there is no danger to the public. He does not expect any criminal charges to be filed.
According to Sheriff Roy Torgerson, a large crew of emergency responders were brought to the scene because of threats made by the individual. “There were substantial safety concerns about officers approaching the residence,” he said, before continuing, “Therefore, we had to set up a perimeter and continue to evaluate the situation. “
Late Thursday morning, crews got the individual out of the house safely and into an ambulance to be taken for treatment.
