The Jackson County Fair started last night with the crowning of new county royalty. Our Tony Hart had the privilege of emceeing the coronation and filed this report.

Three young ladies were vying for Miss Jackson County and one entered her name for the title of Fairest of the Fair. All would earn positions on the 2026-27 courts. Tamber Scheurich, the daughter of Kristin WhiteEagle, was named Miss Jackson County Second Attendant and voted Miss Congeniality by her peers; Andrea Cogswell, daughter of Andy and Natalie Cogswell is the new First Attendant; and Payten Craig was crowned Miss Jackson County. Payten’s parents are Brock Craig and Bethany Ahnen. Miss Jackson County says she’s eager for the year ahead.
“I am so excited and so blessed to have the opportunity to get out in this community, make connections that will last a lifetime and drive me to the Future.”

“It’s been crazy. From a million hairpins, to staying up late chatgpt’ing pop questions with my sister; I mean, I can’t take a minute of it for granted. Everything was worth it to get to this point”
The Jackson County Fairest of the Fair title went to Morgan Lindow, a sophomore Agricultural Education student at UW-River Falls. What does being Fairest of the Fair mean for Lindow?
“I’m so excited to share my experiences here and get to show agriculture through many sides of this community. Especially getting to experience the other parts of the fair other than agriculture.”
Other awards given out during the evening included honors for Retiring Fair Board Members Ruth Mann and Dr. Hoyt Strandberg. Dr. Strandberg – the fair’s long-time veterinarian and dairy superintendent – was also recognized as this year’s Fair Book Dedicatee. Isabelle Huber and Morgan Berg were each given Agricultural Society Scholarships and retiring Miss Jackson County Grace Roskos earned the Kelsey Jo Olson Memorial Scholarship.
The Jackson County Fair continues today with sheep and foods shows, plus free family entertainment the Family Tent including live music with Rhythm Playboys from Noon to three, Magic with Kris Wrobel at 4:00, and Balloons by Kevin – the balloon artist – from six to nine.
