Donald Ernest Anderson, 88, of Black River Falls passed away Monday, August 22, 2022
surrounded by loved ones. He was born on April 21, 1934, in Jackson County, Wisconsin to
Ernest and Gladys (Emerson) Anderson.
Don grew up on a farm in Spring Creek and later moved to a farm in Coverdale in rural
Black River Falls. Don attended rural/country school at Spring Creek and Disco. He graduated
from Black River Falls High School in 1952.
Don drove truck for JATCO for a few months after graduation, but then returned to the
family farm and farmed with his father until his parents retired and moved to Black River Falls.
He became a janitor at Forrest Street Elementary in Black River Falls. He was loved by
everyone at the school – teachers, staff and especially the students. He was honored after 15
years of service to the school as “Employee of the Year”. Upon his retirement after 20 years of
service a courtyard at Forrest Street was dedicated to him. He loved being around the kids and
they truly loved him.
Don was active in volunteer work for Jackson County Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers
and also helped with Project Christmas. He was a member of Little Norway Lutheran Church.
He was an avid fisherman – both ice fishing and open water. He made several trips to
Canada with friends and his brother.
Don is survived by brother Jim (Diane) Anderson and sister Karen (Bill) Foust of Black
River Falls. Nieces Amy (Josh) Twitchell of Holmen, WI and Gina (Phil) Von Ruden of
Onalaska, WI and Nephews Chad (Cassie Gutting) Anderson of New Richmond, WI and Ryan
(Sherry) Foust of Trempealeau,WI. He is also survived by great nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Ernest and Gladys Anderson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 29, 2022 at 11:00 am at Little Norway
Lutheran Church. Friends and family are invited to visitation from 2:00 pm to 4:00pm on
Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Torgerson’s Funeral Home, Black River Falls, WI and one hour
before services at the church on Monday.
Memorials may be given to Jackson County Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers, Little
Norway Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
