Doris Arlene (Merow) Krpata passed away at home on July 31, 2024, under the care of her
loving children with the assistance of St. Croix Hospice. She was born June 9, 1928, to Walter
and Pearl (Johnson) Merow. She married Frank A. Krpata August 14, 1948. They had five
children.
Doris grew up in the Sandy Plains area between Black River Falls and Millston. She was a very
hard worker all her life: farm chores at a young age, taking care of her little sister and other
younger children, and waitressing. She worked at the former Gambles Store where she could
sell more guns than the men. She worked at Norplex Plastic Factory, the pizza plant, and on a
moss bed. She helped her husband cut pulp wood for many years. Later in her life she worked
at BRF High School in maintenance and at Jacks or Better.
Doris loved her family and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great- and great-great-
grandmother. She was the glue that held us all together. She will be missed so much!
Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Frank; her son Ricky; parents Walter
and Pearl Merow; parents-in-law Leo and Helen Krpata; grandsons Richard and Jerry Lamp;

Krpata, and Luann Krpata; sister Gertrude Rutherford; grandchildren Raye Ann (Quentin)
