The Black River Falls Municial Utilites (BRFMU) is asking customers to converse energy from Friday August 1st to Saturday August 3rd. BRFMU expereienced a failure of one of its substation transformers in June and has been working diligently to fina replacement. Replacement equipment has been located, however it takes time to procure delivery and faciliate the changing out of the transformer and associated equipment.
With the hot weather forecarsted for Friday and Saturday, it is very important that customers do their part to conserve enerfy to prevent a possible overload of the dstribution system, which could result in a castastropic failure.
Customers can take the following steps to help reduce their load:
Turn off all uncecessary lighting and appliances
Avoid drying laundry or limit laundry to early morning or late evening hours
Adjust your thermostat to at least 76 degrees to lessen the duration you air conditioner must operate
The goal is to protect the vital electric infrastructure and hopefully prevent the need for BRFMU to shed load by disconnecting circuits to in order to preserve the integrity of the system.
Your cooperation is appreciated.
