The family of Dorothy Ristuben sadly announces her passing on January 9, 2024, at the Black River Falls Hospital.
Dorothy Ristuben was born May 5, 1930, in Black River Falls, WI to Edwin Brown and Evelyn Thompson Brown. As a young child, she grew up on the farm in Snow Creek and attended Snow Creek Country School until the family moved into the house on South Third Street which is now the site of the BRF Public Library. She graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1948.
She married Tom Ristuben in Black River Falls on September 22, 1950. In January 1952 they welcomed daughter, Karen Marie, to the family followed soon by son, Mark Thomas, in December 1954.
Dorothy grew up as a member of BRF United Methodist Church but became an active member of Evangelical Lutheran Church at her marriage.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 73 years, Tom, and their children, Karen (Kurt) Konkol of DeForest, WI, and son Mark (Sherri Diamon) of Onalaska, and grandchildren, Kris (Jodi) Konkol and Kim (Ryan) Blount, and great grandchildren, Peyton Konkol, Casey Konkol, Wyatt Blount and Alex Blount, all of DeForest. She is further survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Phyllis; other siblings, Janette (Tom) Morgan, Phillip “Dud” (Faye) Brown, Sydney Brown who was killed in the World War ll, Duane “Jack” (Arlene) Brown, and Kathryn “Dolly” Hutchens.
Funeral services will be conducted at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Black River Falls, WI at noon on Saturday, January 13, 2024. John Gaier, family friend, will officiate. Friends and family are invited to visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Following the service, a lunch will be held. Masks are required for all in the receiving line.
Memorials may be given to Interfaith in Black River Falls or to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Black River Falls.
Dorothy was a strong, determined, care-giving soul. She will be missed.
