The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Wisconsin Conservation Congress have named Tommy Burr of Eagle River the first-ever Youth Conservation Congress (YCC) Delegate of the Year. A junior at Northern Pines High School, Burr has been an active YCC participant since 2019 and is recognized for his dedication to conserving Wisconsin’s natural resources.

Burr’s involvement spans numerous conservation events, including early morning fishing trips with fellow delegates and hands-on learning at sturgeon registration stations. He’s praised for his leadership, enthusiasm, and deep respect for nature.

DNR Youth Conservation Congress Coordinator Kyle Zenz described Burr as a compassionate and dedicated young leader who represents the future of conservation in the state.

The YCC is a statewide program aimed at cultivating young conservationists through hands-on experiences, education, and service. For more information, visit the DNR’s website.
