The Mississippi River Regional Planning Commission, has released their Jackson County Economic Overview.

Population of Jackson County is at 21,398. It is reported that population   grew by 902 over the last 5 years and is projected to grow by 1,137 over the next 5 years.  Of the 21,398 population, 9,072 are employed.

The report stated that Jobs decreased by 912 over the last 5 years and are projected to decrease by 133 over the next 5 years. In the Median Household Income (2021) Median household income is $59.4K, which is $9.6K below the national median household income of $69.0K. 

As of 2022 the region’s population increased by 4.4% since 2017, growing by 902. Population is expected to increase by 5.3% between 2022 and 2027, adding 1,137.

From 2017 to 2022, jobs declined by 9.1% in Jackson County, WI from 9,984 to 9,072. This change fell short of the national growth rate of 3.4% by 12.5%. As the number of jobs declined, the labor force participation rate decreased from 66.6% to 55.8% between 2017 and 2022.

Concerning educational attainment, 10.7% of Jackson County, WI residents possess a Bachelor’s Degree (10.2% below the national average), and 11.6% hold an Associate’s Degree (2.8% above the national average).The top three industries in 2022 in Jackson County are Local Government,, General Freight Trucking, and Education and Hospitals.
