Janet Karen (Hahn) Cole, age 78, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, passed away on November 6, 2023
at her home.
Janet was born to Karl Hahn and Janet (Kimball) Hahn on May 20, 1945 in New Richmond, WI
and was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osceola, WI. She went to a two
room country school the first eight years at Cedar Lake. High school was in Osceola and she
graduated in 1963. Janet then attended one year at Superior State College.
Janet worked at Fabri-Tek in Amery and met Gordon Cole whom she married May 14, 1966.
Gordy always said “She aged fast after she was married with her birthday six days later.” Their
first few years were spent on their farm at Clear Lake. Then a few moves when he was in
management training with Midland Coop. He had a store in Aitkin, MN, and there a son Brian
was born. Then they moved to Strum where daughter Angela was born. Gordon worked for
several tire stores before having their own in Independence. Janet did chair caning and furniture
refinishing, and after purchasing the store was bookkeeper and “gopher” among other duties.
She also worked at the Ashley factory in Arcadia, WI for 17 years. Gordon passed away
November 9, 2010.
Janet loved to read, knit, crochet, sew, gardening, fishing, quilting and animals. Her greatest joy
was teaching her grandchildren to bake, cook, and fish. She also loved going on family trips.
She was a cat magnet, as the strays found a good home with her. Janet was a charter member
of Daughters of the King at Immanuel Lutheran Church where she attended church and was
part of bible studies, serving groups, and quilting group

Janet is survived by son Brian Cole (Suzann) and daughter Angela Mosbach; and her
grandchildren, Sacha Mosbach and Katrina Cole. She is also survived by nieces Suzette (Berg)
Gray and Renee Berg; and nephews Kent Berg and Kevin Hahn.
Gone before her were her parents Janet and Karl Hahn; husband Gordon Cole; her in-laws
Thorton and Mae Cole; sister Florence Berg; brother-in-law Leland Berg; brother Karl N. Hahn;
sister-in-law Irene Hahn; sister-in-law JoAnn Johnson; and brother-in-law David Johnson.
The family would like to thank Mayo Hospice of Eau Claire, especially Lisa and Karla.
Janet was loved very much by her children and grandchildren. She especially loved her family
trips and called them awesome, with one of the trips including her dream trip of a cruise in
Alaska. She liked to say, “There was always a challenge ahead and with God’s help I made it.”
Funeral services for Janet Cole will take place at 11am on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at
