Lorraine D. (Letson) Nehring, age 93, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully in the
presence of family in the Gundersen Tri-County Care Center on September 24,
2022.
Lorraine was born August 19, 1929 in Taylor to Harold and Agnes (Nordahl)
Letson. She was raised in rural Taylor and graduated from Taylor High School in
- She was employed by Jackson County Bank until her marriage to Robert
Nehring on November 5, 1953. They moved to their farm west of Blair and raised
five children. She served as the clerk for the Town of Preston for 10 years. Later
in life, Lorraine returned to work at the Union Bank of Blair until her retirement in - In retirement, Lorraine was the site coordinator for the Senior Meal
program for several years.
Through the years, Lorraine loved being a homemaker and was actively involved
at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Whitehall. She always enjoyed baking, was
an avid seamstress, loved hand crafts, gardening, playing games, but most
importantly spending time with family. She loved hosting family gatherings and
loved her time with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her five children, David (Pam) Nehring, Joanne (Rick) Laabs,
Gail (Steve) Radtke, Bobbi (Joe) Palecek, Linda (Jay) Vehrenkamp; ten
grandchildren, Liza (Kurt) Mathson, Josh (Haley) Nehring, Kelly, Daniel and
Mitchel Laabs, Nate (Jaime) Radtke, Ben (Lauren) Radtke, Leah Vehrenkamp,
Katie (Dalton) Sogla, and Abby Vehrenkamp and great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Erik,
Emma, Rhett, Emerson.
In addition to her parents and her husband Robert of 44 years, she was preceded
in death by her sister Nona.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church
or Gundersen Tri-County Assisted Living. The family would like to thank the staff
at Gundersen Tri-County that made such a difference in Mom’s life in later years.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in
Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church with burial in the Lincoln Cemetery, both in
Whitehall. Pastor Paul Sannerud will officiate.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. until the time
of service in Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Whitehall. Lunch will follow the
services at the church.
The Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall is assisting the family with arrangements.
