Milton “Mick” Allen Aleckson, 92, of Black River Falls, formerly of Melrose, passed away
Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Pine View Nursing Home. He was born January 19 th , 1931, to
Millard and Alice (Waller) Aleckson. Mick spent much of his childhood with his uncles helping
around the barn. He started first grade at the Glasgow Country School House and graduated
from Galesville High School in 1949. He liked to talk about his track achievements as well as
FFA when given the opportunity. After high school, he worked on many farms and had a milk
route. He also worked for Scherr Construction where he met the love of his life, the boss’s
daughter.
Mick and Patricia Joann Scherr were married on July 2,1955 in Trempealeau. They farmed
together for many years and moved a few times but finally settled in rural Melrose, in the area of
Franklin. Mick and Pat milked Jersey and Guernsey cattle until their retirement in 1998 due to
health issues. They enjoyed the neighborhood and could be seen out and about with the
neighbors they called family. Mick enjoyed bowling, going to community events, and spending
time with his family. He was a die hard Green Bay Packer and St. Louis Cardinals fan. When
Mick was home and not working on the farm, he was catching up on a good western or listening
to Frank Sinatra.
Mick is survived by his son Robert (Susan) Aleckson of Black River Falls; daughter Diane (Rick)
Olson of Melrose; sisters Ardyce Hagen of Eau Claire and Lois (George) Johnson of Strum;
brothers Herb (Shari) Aleckson of West Salem, Dean (Cindy Berg) Aleckson of Melrose, and

Olson, Garrett and Christy Aleckson; great-grandchildren Nicholus and Connor Waughtal,

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia; brothers, Kenneth and Gary Aleckson;
sister, Jean Nash; brothers-in-law, Jim Hagen and Leonard Nash; sisters-in-law, Marlene and
Fern Aleckson; and grandson Travis Olson.
