A Lafayette County decision approving a license for a new livestock facility near Mineral Point is being appealed by a neighboring landowner.

The proposed facility is on Fort Defiance Road in the Town of Willow Springs. The appeal claims the county incorrectly applied setback requirements and that the facility’s application may have inaccurate calculations involving odor, manure production and storage.

The case will now go before Wisconsin’s Livestock Facility Siting Review Board.

Residents and landowners within two miles of the proposed facility may submit statements of position on the issues raised in the appeal. Statements must be received by October 30th.

The review board will have 60 days to make a decision after receiving the required documents from Lafayette County.
