Phyllis M. Babcock, 86, of Black River Falls, WI passed-away peacefully on Friday, August 14, 2020 under the watchful care of St. Croix Hospice.
Born May 24, 1934 to Harold H. Betz and Helen B. “Kalstad” Betz in Black River Falls, she was the oldest of five children. After her graduation from Black River Falls High School, she moved to Eau Claire, where she married Arlie Babcock in 1953. Through the following years after returning to Black River Falls, they had four children. Together as a family, they actively engaged in produce farming by selling strawberries and contracting their cucumber crops to the local commercial markets.
Once the children were in school, Phyllis reached her professional milestone when she was hired by the Black River Falls Police Department where over the course of time, she was promoted to the role of Law Enforcement Support Officer. It was during her many years of service she continued her education and training until her retirement.
During the retirement chapter of her life, Phyllis and Arlie celebrated 66 years of marriage, while they enjoyed their grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as their travel to many of America’s historical cities.
She is survived by her children Greg, and his wife Sharon; Rod; Diana Farber and her husband, Gary; Kevin, and his wife, Julie.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Arlie, her parents, two brothers, James, and Larry as well as her sister, Katherine.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private graveside funeral service will be held for the immediate family at Black River Falls Riverside Cemetery on Friday, August 28, 2020. Pastor Barbara Knutson will officiate with Torgerson’s Funeral Home coordinating arrangements.
