A free suicide prevention course is coming up in Sparta. It’s called Question, Persuade, Refer — or QPR Gatekeeper Training. In just one hour, participants learn three simple steps to help save a life from suicide: recognizing the warning signs of a crisis, offering hope, and connecting someone to help. QPR Gatekeepers can be anyone — parents, friends, neighbors, or professionals — and the training is designed to give everyday people the skills and confidence to be a first line of support during a mental health crisis.
The Monroe County Health Department will host the session Thursday evening, September 29th, from 5:30 to 7:00 at its office on West Oak Street in Sparta. Pre-registration is required. You can sign up online at https://bit.ly/49osXNG or call Monroe County Health Department at 608-269-8666.
