Raymond “Ray” John Gohde, 67, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2023 at Pine View Care
Center in Black River Falls. He was born November 14, 1955 in Black River Falls to William
Gohde and Rosella (Burlingame) Gohde.
Raymond grew up in the Merrillan/Alma Center area and graduated from Alma Center High
School. He worked at several establishments throughout his years to include farm work,
Perkins Restaurant, Nelson Muffler, Ho Chunk Casino, and Carpi’s Bar. He also served for a
period of time as a fire fighter and first responder with the Merrillan Fire Department.
Additionally, he was an avid fisherman and squirrel/deer hunter. He was a VERY loyal Packers,
Brewers, and Badgers fan. He was a people person and loved talking with people wherever he
was.
Raymond is survived by his mother, Rosella Burlingame; siblings Russell (Beth) Gohde of
Philadelphia, TN, Cindra (Bob) Starck of Rigby, ID, Mary (Marlin) Mashin of Neillsville, and
Rebecca (Paul) Peterson of Melrose. He is also survived by sister-in-laws Shirley Gohde, Alma
Center and Carol Gohde, Gypsum, CO as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving
family and friends.
Raymond was preceded in death by his father, William Gohde and brothers Rick Gohde and
Anthony (Tony) Gohde.
Funeral services for Raymond will take place at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 6 th at the Merrillan
Methodist Church in Merrillan, WI with Pastor Tom Clark officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00
PM until the time of service. Burial will be immediately following the service in East Lawn
Cemetery, in Alma Center with a gathering at the VFW hall afterwards. This gathering will be a
Celebration of Life for Raymond and his brother Tony Gohde who also very recently passed
away. Friends and family are invited to attend.
